What this means in practice
Jobs are bundles of tasks, and AI unbundles them selectively. A role containing drafting, scheduling, judgment, and physical work does not vanish when drafting automates — it redesigns around the remaining tasks. Whole-job automation requires nearly every task to be software-assignable at once.
Executive Assistants illustrate the split: calendars, minutes, and routine correspondence are highly automatable, but gatekeeping, confidential judgment, and executive trust are not. The occupation shrinks or redesigns around the durable tasks rather than disappearing outright.
